Famous Madonna SEX Fish Seeking New Owner

I am Otto, the Great Bronze Fish, and this is my story:

I am the fish that had a very special encounter with Madonna in 1992 when she posed naked on me for a photo in her famous SEX book. My interlude with Madonna involved intimate contact that culminated with the extraordinarily artful photo.

A Line Drawn

Captain Chris Frohlich on the community efforts to ban the Boca Grande tarpon jig.

A line has been drawn in the sand. I believe that on one side is the moral high ground, a rich history, respect, and tradition. On the other side sits a group of opportunistic vultures, ready to poach when the time is right. They have long since abandoned any moral compass that they once used to guide their way. They are merely pawns, following the gospel of a few greedy individuals who will stop at nothing in the pursuit of fortune.

20 Pounds? Not Too Bad, for an Extinct Fish

Pyramid Lake, already famous for its ladders and large Lahontans, is now kicking out large Pilot Peak Cutthroats, direct descendants of the of the vanished Pyramid Lake strain of Lahontan Cutthroat Trout.

In 2006, the Lahontan NFHC, in partnership with the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe began stocking Pilot Peak Lahontan Cutthroat Trout into Pyramid Lake. Over 780,000 juvenile Pilot Peak LCT have been stocked in a variety of locations around Pyramid Lake.

They waited to see how the fish might readapt to its ancestral home.

The answer came from ecstatic anglers.

Chicago flooding a threat to wash Asian Carp into Lake Michigan

Rains have brought the Des Plaines River on the east side of Chicago to major flood stage and a record flood crest was expected yesterday. Asian Carp are present in the Des Plaines River and the flood event is capable of washing significant numbers of Asian Carp from the Des Plaines River into a canal that feeds directly into Lake Michigan.

Due to the flooding brown trout are also being diverted into Lake Michigan.

They are still spear fishing for tarpon off Louisiana

Fly Life Magazine is calling out Hells Divers and their members who like to spear fish for tarpon off the coast of Louisiana.

As the comment thread in this 2008 post about the same issue illustrates, the spear fishing community will aggressively push back.

In what has to be one of the more ironic comments, given Save the Tarpon is getting involved, tarpon spear fishing advocate Louis Rossignol references the PTTS to call bullshit on those opposed to the practice.

For those that want to judge, take a look at that completely ridiculous circus they call the “Professional Tarpon Tournament Series”, where boats cram into the pass, live bait tarpon and feed half of them to the local hammerhead population. The ones that escape the big teeth get dragged over to a scale and then released, exhausted, to said hammerhead-infested pass.

In this video Rossignol, who owns 5 of the top ten Hells Divers tarpon spear fishing records, drills a triple digit tarpon off a gulf rig.

For Cod's Sake

The science is clear. Atlantic cod populations are at an all-time historic low. The cod fishery, which for generations has supported a way of life in New England’s coastal communities, may be in complete collapse.

It won't be the first time.
