Fish Schtick Episode 95 – Bryan Huskey

Bryan Huskey is a freelance photographer, film maker, fishing guide, and magazine ad-rep. He also shoots as much video and photos as he can – he says for selfish reasons. We first had Bryan on The Schtick this time of year in 2010, after he’d won the Oregon Fly Fishing Film Festival. He’s living the dream in between the peaks in Sun Valley, Idaho, and he wears a lot of hats, but it seems like much of the time, he must be wearing them with a camera in his hand, which he uses to its fullest capability.

His latest work, Doc of the Drakes, is currently getting rave reviews as part of the 2012 Fly Fishing Film Tour line up. We get some of the background on the making of the film as well as an update on the Doc.

Give it a listen.

Fish Schtick Episode 90 – Ivan Orsic AKA Yukon Goes Fishing

Ivan Orsic may be better known to the internet set as Yukon Goes Fishing.

At his own blog – Yukon Goes Fishing – his bio reads like this. “I’m a graduate student studying fluvial geomorphology, applied hydrology, and environmental geochemistry at a fine institution in Missoula, MT. Originally from the Atlantic Coastal Plain of the eastern US, I have always been a fan of all sorts of fishing. However, during a “family” trip up to Alaska when I was in high school, I fell in love with the sport of fly fishing.

That’s turned into a pretty sweet set of video blogs and the one that made us finally track him down for the show: Silver & Gold featuring Yukon Cornelius.

It’s a perfect Fish Schtick holiday treat.

Fish Schtick Episode 88 – Richard Louv

Richard Louv’s biography ends like this: he would rather fish than write. But between “Richard Louv is…” and “…rather fish than write,” is the story of a man who has written eight books and coined the term “Nature Deficit Disorder.” The book that kicked off an international conversation about the relationship with children and nature is entitled Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder. His latest book, The Nature Principle: Human Restoration and the End of Nature-Deficit Disorder offers a new vision of the future, in which our lives are as immersed in nature as they are in technology.

Maybe you've seen Richard on NBC’s Today Show or the CBS Evening News, or ABC’s Good Morning America. Maybe you heard him on NPR’s Morning Edition, Fresh Air, or Talk of the Nation. If you missed him in all those places, unbelievable as it may seem, we got him to hang out with us on The Fish Schtick.
