Fish Schtick Episode 73 – Robert Lawler

This is Bob Lawler's redear sunfish. Five and a half pounds! Massive! Possibly the biggest one ever caught. The potential new world record has made Bob a reluctant celebrity in the world of fishing because Bob is a guy who just likes to fish. He talks about how he caught it, the incredible fishery at Havasu, fighting zebra mussels, and how hard he tried to weigh, certify and release it without it dying on this week's episode of The Fish Schtick.

Fish Schtick Episode 67 – Travis Lowe

Travis Lowe is a TV production guy from Canada. Got his start in corporate video, which killed his soul…so 20 years ago he moved out west from Toronto and started a career as an ENG Television News Cameraman , for a national network, which killed his soul dead….. but at least he was in British Columbia. He then picked up a fly rod and claims his soul has been right ever since?  Travis still works in television news, grinding out stories day in day, out like a sausage factory but on the side he does what he calls “passion projects”  (in whatever spare time he can find). We asked him to spend some time with us to talk about his “Spring Creek Film” project. The tagline is Ranchers, Anglers, Water and Trout.

Be sure to check out the brand new trailer from the film above.

Fish Schtick Episode 65 – Children’s Author Spectacular

A very special show featuring some of the authors who are using their craft to encourage kids to get outside and get fishing. Those of us who love the outdoors know how important it is to get kids outside, and studies have shown that nothing is more effective at doing that than fishing. Authors Kirk Werner, Mike DiLorenzo and Kristine Houghtman were our guests on the latest episode of The Fish Schtick.

Fish Schtick Episode 60 – Stewardship Spectacular

In episode 60 you’ll hear from three leaders in stewardship today.

Zach Porter – All Against the Haul
All Against The Haul is a homegrown effort working to stop the construction of a permanent industrial corridor for oversized loads to the Alberta Tar Sands through iconic wilderness and sensitive fisheries in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. Zach Porter joins us as the voice for this important effort.

Brian Bennett – Wild Steelhead Coalition
Brian is more than your tour guide every week on the Fish Schtick and co-Captain of Moldy Chum. More than the Fly Fishing guy for Patagonia. He’s a board member for the Wild Steelhead Coalition and as long as I’ve known him, he’s voiced the concern that the next generation may not know native, wild steelhead. That’s a painful concern.

Leah Elwell – Clean Angling
Clean Angling is an initiative of the Center for Aquatic Nuisance Species – one of the greatest threats to our waters, aside from the chemicals we put in them, aside from the way we change and manipulate them, are the critters that shouldn’t be in them, but which are – and are spreading. Leah Elwell is the Program Director and she’s an expert on Whirling Disease as well as all these other bad things that are making their way through our aquatic ecosystems.
