Some fish bait can harm juvenile salmon, ODFW research finds

This news is breaking all over the Northwest.

Some popular fishing baits cured with sodium sulfite are harmful to juvenile salmon and steelhead, research by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Oregon State University scientists has found.

Gone for decades, bull trout could soon return to the Clackamas River

Today the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will publish its proposal to reintroduce bull trout to the farthest upstream reaches of the Clackamas river, in the Mt. Hood National Forest. 

The last confirmed siting of a bull trout in the river was in 1963.

You Can Help Raise 50K for the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership

How? By voting for Jim Range as the Budweiser Conservationist of the Year.

Jim Range, one of the country’s greatest champions for sportsmen-conservationists, has been honored with a posthumous nomination as a finalist for the Budweiser Conservationist of the Year award.This annual program recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to perpetuating the American outdoor way of life.

Budweiser and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation will donate $50,000 to the 2010 winner’s conservation organization of choice, with the money to fund the group’s conservation efforts.

Rivers on the Edge

Rivers on the Edge is a short film Charles Rangeley-Wilson made for WWF UK to support their campaign of the same name.

Rivers on the Edge introduces us to the English Chalk stream and demonstrates the threat they are now under due to the amount of water we use, an increasing population and the effects of climate change.
