R.I.P. - Utah Stream Access

A tip of the hat to all of you who made their voices heard regarding this flawed piece of legislation.

Subject: Gov will sign HB-141
Yesterday, we learned of the Gov's decision to sign HB141 today. Recognizing it's flaws he will ask the AG to not interfere with any injunctions. Outside of the issue, which has personal ramifications, the Governor support for a flawed process, closed door politics and for a bill that will eventually cost tax payers time and money, shows a glaring lack of leadership at a time when we can ill afford such.
Its a shady blow I think most of us saw coming... it just sucks to know your going to get punched in the face, and you got to just "take it" like a fisherman. Small defeat, but the long term will be an overall victory.
FISHERMEN AND FISHERWOMEN --->THANK YOU ALL!! Locals and non-residents alike!! In the end, we are all fishers, thanks for banding together and fighting along side us.

Here's an interesting tidbit from the post mortem in yesterday's Salt Lake Trbune.

Governor Herbert's sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Steve Ault, own about a mile-and-a-half stretch of the lower Provo River, some of the premier fishing waters in the country, and were actively involved in lobbying the Legislature to pass HB141.

That really, really, sucks for Utah! Does anyone realize Colorado could be headed down the same road? There is a heated public access battle raging in Colorado RIGHT NOW! Why is no one bringing this to the attention of Chum Nation in the same way as the Utah House Bill. It is very important to show your support before Colorado suffers the same fate as Utah.
Call up the UTAH goveners office. Let him know how you feel for allowing this to happen. Then ask him if he's comming after your fishing poles next. Because after passing this law he just killed half of the fishing in the state. Utah people grab your kyaks & canoes float down the stream any wise & stand defiant. Send a signal to land owners that means nothing to you.
80 % of the river i fish here in Utah is now off limits. Please keep your voice out there and heard on this issue. If we give up now we loss everything. Thank you all for your support.

I perpose that we start a online Utah Fly Fishing Ban. Let's kill there state with a lack of fishing tourist revenue. The lack of tourist revenue will Bankrupt there state. I hope it happens. Thank God in Missouri you can only own the land not the moving water that flows through it. Get you canoes out a send a message to all land owners your not going take this.
YEAHH where is Trout Unlimited in this. Probably getting tarp money kickbacks to stay away from this fight. Your better off being a federation of flyfishers member anywise.
I am from Utah and i can tell you all it is a sad day when shit like this happens. I guess when you live in a state like this, all you can do is be thankfull you live close to Idaho.

This just sucks for Utah fishers, I agree this stinks of money.
It could be worse, oh wait it can't. We are losing our state parka here in az as a "budget saving" solution. Yeah save 20 million and throw away 200 million in tourist income. Great job legislature. Same thing will happen in Utah. Just keep on driving to the next state to spend your money.
If I lived in Utah I'd be flipping my sh$t right now. Aside form the constitutional rights issues, I'm sure Utah's recreational sports income dollars will probably suffer as well, but hey, we can't have any fishermen spoiling the view out his sister's back patio! What a class "A" dbag.
Trout Unlimited pitched in money for the fight and the local chapters did a lot of leg work. National could have stepped up the table but the local chapters did quite a bit of work in this.
Well here it is Nov 2, 2010. I hope the dirts s.o.b. of a govenor has to start looking for another job. Along with his obvious reasons for what he has done with stream access laws. He is a dirty poitician giving pay for play to the highest bidder.
