“If you are concerned about those fish at the upper echelons, then release them”

 

The debate and fight against invasive lake trout in Flathead Lake continues.

Despite hearing some public opposition, the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission voted Thursday to eliminate the lake trout “slot limit” on the southern half of Flathead Lake, a change that has been sought by the Confederated Salish-Kootenai Tribes.

Wanted - Bucket Biologists

Montana Trout Unlimited plans to put up a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of so-called “bucket biologists” who illegally plant non-native species in important trout waters.

Montana TU pledged the $10,000 to up the ante in the fight against illegal fish introductions that threaten the state’s world-class trout fisheries. The organization is working with Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks to offer rewards for important information.

Huge Asian Carp Found Dangerously Close To Lake Michigan

A 53 inch, 82 pound carp was hauled in a month ago right on the Illinois-Indiana state line, and right across  from Lake Calumet.”

Lake Calumet connects with Lake Michigan.

The perch killers arrived at Phillips Reservoir under cover of night


All 25,000 of them.

A truck emptied its cargo of juvenile tiger muskies, a sterile hybrid fish with an insatiable appetite, into the Baker County reservoir Tuesday evening.

Officials from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife hope the voracious tiger muskies will end the nearly 20-year reign of yellow perch in a reservoir that used to be one of the prime rainbow trout-fishing spots in Eastern Oregon.
