I have never questioned the orders or the intelligence of any representative of the Federation. Until now.

William Shatner has written to Prime Minister Stephen Harper asking that salmon farms be removed from crucial wild-salmon migration routes off northern Vancouver Island.

Shatner said salmon farms are having a disastrous impact on "one of Earth's most precious assets, the wild salmon and steelhead of B.C." in the letter, which was also sent to Fisheries Minister Gail Shea, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff and B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell.

One Woman, One River

Ali Howard has started her Skeena swim to raise awareness of development issues in the Skeena headwaters. Patagonia is one of her primary sponsors donating $5000 and a bunch of gear to the cause.

Ali Howard is swimming the Skeena River's entire 610-km length, from the Sacred Headwaters to the Pacific Ocean. She's doing it to raise awareness of threats to the Skeena and bring communities together around a vision for the watershed's future.

California Dreamin

A recent dispatch from Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador Mikey Weir.

Just got back from a little mission into a remote canyon here in Nor Cal. I was mostly there to film some climbing but i managed some fishing time too. The river was HUGE but i managed to pull some really nice trout. These two were the highlights. I'm guessing that female was over 12 lbs and the male was over 15. He gave me a nasty bite. I could barley hold him out of the water. I think he's one of the biggest i've ever caught. After that i just put my rod down. That was the trout i've been looking for for years.

Think it's worth a SOM entry?
