RIP, indeed.
Fran was a great man who did great things for our sport. More importantly, If you ever had the pleasure to go into his shop, you know what a gracious person he was - and you know he was a wealth of knowledge. His was one of the few shops out there, where you were always treated like family. No trip to the 'Dacks will ever be the same without a visit to Fran.
Thanks for all you did for the sport and all you shared in your life's work! You will be missed but your legacy will live on.
Rockin" a rug to boot!
Fucking awesome.
RIP
Wow, I always wanted to go meet him and get a Usual tied by him.
I stole one of his books from a library many years back. I'm not into hero worship... but this is truly a loss... Thanks Fran.
In Fran's honor I will guide his legendary Ausable River this summer and fall, and will no doubt employ his Haystack and Ausable Wulff patterns.
