OIA Says Utah’s Reputation Damaged by Stream Access Bill

OIA President and CEO Frank Huglemeyer continues to bring the voice of the outdoor industry to bear on the stream access issue in Utah.

Governor Gary Herbert’s approval of a new law that will block access to streams running through private property has already damaged Utah’s reputation nationally as a welcoming place for those who enjoy the outdoors.  That’s according to Frank Hugelmeyer, President and CEO of the Outdoor Industry Association.  The organization sponsors the Outdoor Retailer Summer and Winter Markets, which bring tens of thousands of people to the Salt Palace each year.

With many states almost bankrupt. Does he understand what the long term implications are for the state. This will kill his tourist dollars. It will only hurt UTAH even more. I encourage every one who reads this to boycott UTAH. Send them a message where it hurts the most in the states wallet. I under stand tresspass issue's & the mess they leave behind. You access the river from a public area then float into that stretch river. Wade the water only & stay off the land. Both side sgive alittle & everybody is happy. That seams the most reasonable.

No matter how it turns out. Utah is a shitty state and nobody should ever spend a dime there.

So are they going to move the Outdoor Retailer shows somewhere else now? No point in having an outdoor retail show in a state that doesn't have any access to the outdoors.

Sounds like Frank's been "following this closely" for some time. Well, thanks for chiming in after the fact dude. It's a done deal now. WTF?

I tried to send the Governor an email about how I was never going to spend money visiting his state thanks to his policies, but the Dbag makes you fill out a huge form with all your personal info just to send a comment in, which I didn't feel like doing. Most reps have a catchall email address you can quickly send a basic email comment to. What a dbag. I hope he gets kicked the F out.
