Colorado River reaches the Gulf of California once more

Last month, water flowing in the Colorado River Delta completed the journey from its headwaters in the Colorado Rockies all the way to the Gulf of California for the first time since the late 1990s. The experimental flow is meant to help restore an ecosystem starved of water by over-use and dams for many decades.

New York-based photographer John Trotter spent 10 days at the Delta in Mexico to document the historic releases.

2014 America's Most Endangered Rivers

American Rivers has released its top 10 of the most endangered rivers in the United States in 2014.

"The bill fell victim to a few folks who can’t even find the Flathead River on a map."

That's a quote from Montana Senator Jon Testor in reposnse to three G.O.P. Senators blocking a vote to protect the North Fork of the Flathead River from mineral development.

For reference it was Ted Cruz of Texas, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma who objected.
