Take Action! Oppose hatchery spring chinook acclimation facility on the Molalla River

The Native Fish Society has put out an action alert regarding a Coastal Conservation Alliance (CCA) application to build an acclimation facility for hatchery spring chinook on the Molalla River.

Needless to say this is a bad idea.

If constructed this facility would increase hatchery and harvest pressures on all fish species in the Molalla River, including populations of resident trout, ESA listed wild winter steelhead, and ESA-listed wild spring chinook.

Before making their recommendation to the ODFW Commissioners on this project, the R&E Board is considering comments from the public, that is where you come in.

PLEASE take action HERE via the Native Fish Society website.

Patagonia Sin Represas / Patagonia Without Dams

Environmental documentarian Bridget Besaw travels to Chilean Patagonia to photograph the pristine land and the rugged people living in an area that would be changed forever by five proposed dams on the Baker and Pascua Rivers.

For more information about the mega-dam proposal please visit International Rivers, NRDC, Conservación Patagónica or read the posts on The Cleanest Line.

These 5 proposed dams projects should be getting much more attention from the global angling commununity.

TAKE ACTION! Help Maintain Balance in the Sacramento Bay-Delta Estuary

From Earth Justice

Promoted as a benefit for some of the world’s wealthiest agribusinesses, H.R. 1837 seeks to overturn a historic agreement to restore water flows and salmon runs in the San Joaquin River. It would also nullify decades of science-based protections for the Bay-Delta and harm the communities reliant on a healthy estuary.

At stake is the largest estuary on the West Coast of North America. It is a maze of wetlands and farmlands, islands and waterways, where torrents of the Sierra Nevada mix with tides from the Pacific Ocean. It provides a haven for fish and wildlife, quenches the thirst of millions of Californians, contains thousands of acres of farmland while watering hundreds of thousands more, and nurses salmon runs that sustain fishing ports along a thousand miles of coastline.

Please, now, e-mail your member of Congress and ask for a NO vote on H.R. 1837.
