Salmon Thirty Salmon 2

Alaska Airlines and the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute on Monday unveiled the world’s largest king salmon. Stretching nearly 129 feet, the fish-themed design will adorn a Boeing 737-800 this fall.

The new “Salmon-Thirty-Salmon II” design is derived from an earlier version of the paint scheme Alaska Airlines unveiled on a 737-400 in 2005.

Eel River will see extra water release

The Eel River will see increased water flows between today and May 24 to aid the downstream migration of juvenile salmon and steelhead to the ocean, during which time people recreating in or near the water should take precautions.

Based on a recently completed review, NOAA Fisheries Service has determined that all 13 Columbia River basin salmon and steelhead stocks now listed under the Endangered Species Act will retain their listing classification as either threatened or endangered.
