DamNation Update: The Momentum of River Restoration

An update from Felt Soul Media's Ben Knight from the Mountain Film Telluride web site regarding their new film Damnation.

Currently we’re locked in the editing cave, hoping to drop the DamNation trailer and the film’s website in conjunction with Patagonia’s Dam-themed Summer catalog this June. Our hope is to hit the festival scene in early 2013. DamNation is the brain child of Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard and Biologist Matt Stoecker — Travis Rummel, Beda Calhoun and I (of Felt Soul Media) are bringing it to life. We’re a proud recipient of a 2012 Mountainfilm Commitment Grant and look forward to bringing our seventh film to the Telluride audience.

Patagonia Sin Represas / Patagonia Without Dams

Environmental documentarian Bridget Besaw travels to Chilean Patagonia to photograph the pristine land and the rugged people living in an area that would be changed forever by five proposed dams on the Baker and Pascua Rivers.

For more information about the mega-dam proposal please visit International Rivers, NRDC, Conservación Patagónica or read the posts on The Cleanest Line.

These 5 proposed dams projects should be getting much more attention from the global angling commununity.

Save the Colorado

The Windy Gap Project, a proposed water project that threatens to reduce the Colorado River’s flows to less than 20% of its historic levels, is just one of a myriad of problems facing the Colorado River.

This Thursday TU is hosting a rally in downtown Denver on the corner of 16th street and Wynkoop to show support for keeping the upper Colorado River alive despite threats to its flows and future.

Windy Gap is not the only threat to the Colorado. Kim Jordan, President and CEO of New Belgium Brewing Company, and Casey Sheahan, CEO of Patagonia, speak out on behalf of a river that desperately needs help.
