According to award-winning nature photographer Daniel Botelho the key to safely diving with Great Whites is to remain relaxed, keep eye contact with the shark and hold ones ground no matter how close the shark swims to the diver.
Australian Sam Cahir had been taking part in a Great White tagging trip when he found himself face-to-face with a Short Finned Mako off the Neptune Islands, South Australia.

"I was fishing for Gummy sharks that day trying to get a feed for my family and friends and wasn’t expecting this great white to be on the line,” he said
“Just under the hour of fighting we seen it, was not expecting this at all I was able to get it washed up with the wave I removed the hook and I couldn’t leave this shark on the beach too (sic) die."
