After 10 years, Patterson's lost fly rod is back

Herb (not Hank) Patterson lost a fly rod that had some true sentimental value off his kick boat in 2003.

Ten years later he got it back.

Russian crash site where two British fly fishermen and their guide were killed  

The Mail OnLine has released images of the helicopter crash scene where two British fly fisherman and their guide were killed during a recent trip to Russia

Rupert Beaumont, Mark Robertson and Russian guide Alexander Tushnikov, were hit by the spinning rotor blades moments after stepping off the aircraft.

Two British fly fishermen killed in helicopter accident in Russian Arctic 

Some sad news coming out of Russia.

The anglers, both believed to be in their late 60s, were killed in the crash along with their local guide at a tourist camp on the Rynda river about 90 miles east of Murmansk, on the Kola Peninsula.

Droppers but no Hoppers

After two summers of grasshopper mayhem, Colorado bug scientists, farmers and fishermen are, unexpectedly, hearing only crickets in the tall grasses this year.

Drought, bug spray and the fungus of a cold, wet spring have whittled estimates from as high as 17 grasshoppers per square yard in state test areas the past two years to about 3 per square yard this year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The fish, however, abide.

Masked bandit breaks into fly fishing company

In this case we are talking about a masked bandit committing a brazen crime by breaking and entering into a local fly shop. When the perpetrator was first confronted by Plumas County’s finest, he barricaded himself inside and refused to surrender.

Fly Fishers Disagree on Silver Creek Restoration Proposal

To mitigate the imapct of sediment build up there is a proposal to do restoration work on Silver Creek’s Kilpatrick Pond. Good for the fish but, as always, there are some who don't care for the proposal.

Magic Valley covers the restoration plan and debate in depth, along with instructions on how you can submit your own comments. A public hearing on the proposal will be held on March 19th.
