Britt Freda from Seattle, Washington has one of the most unique angles of not only seeing fish and where they live but also how she portrays them in her work. This piece is of three steelhead on redds, acrylic on canvas.
The Seattle-based carrier's original "Salmon-Thirty-Salmon" was a Boeing 737-400 painted to look like a giant King salmon in 2005. Last year, Alaska repainted that jet in its traditional Eskimo theme.
This week, the carrier rolled out "Salmon-Thirty-Salmon II," a Boeing 737-800. The paint job -- "livery," in airplane-speak -- is nearly identical to the original Salmon-Thirty-Salmon, albeit about nine feet longer, with fish scales on the winglets and a salmon pink-colored Alaska script across the fuselage. It's "the most intricately painted commercial aircraft in the world," according to a news release.
