The Hoopa Vally Tribe have asked the Bureau of Reclamarition to release more water from the Trinity into the Klamath to prevent another possible salmon kill this fall.

The Trinity River is the Klamath's largest tributary, and water is often diverted from the river to farmers and residents of Southern California. After intervention by Dick Cheney in 2002, the diversion ordered led to a massive salmon kill on the Klamath.

The battle to save the Delta, the largest estuary on the West Coast of the Americas, really comes down to a conflict between a future based on sustainable fishing, farming and recreation or a future based on corporate agribusiness irrigating toxic, drainage-impaired land that should never have been farmed at the expense of Delta and Sacramento Valley farms and healthy fisheries.
