Back from Baja...

...just a quick 3 day family business trip.  Wind was kicking on the East Cape and the rod never had a chance to exit the tube. 

After giving my Uncle Lennard a quick lesson in Running Down the Man, we witnessed the after-effects of his toe debacle that started to develop last summer after an overly aggressive summit of Mount Rainier.  We all have an Uncle Lennard somewhere in the family.  This is mine.

It's Official - My gear is getting in more quality fishing than I am

My 5 weight Sage stick got a workout yesterday on what is turning out to be a world class honey hole not far from OC's new digs in Summit County.

Meanwhile, my 9 weight Scott S4S set up has been enjoying a more tropical locale, traveling to Eleuthra with my colleague Mike Martini.

For some reason, this one smells like it's gonna be sans douchebaggery and Billy Bob tactics.  I could be wrong, but my afflicted ass is watching it

Wild steelhead poaching rising on Umpqua River

Due to a lack of hatchery brats some anglers have resorted to poaching wild fish. In a two day period last week eight citations were issued.

Tis the season to get hooked on chum

The even number years produce much bigger runs but 2009 is shapng up nicely.

In Hood Canal, the chum forecast is 380,000, compared to long-term average of 695,000. Other forecasts call for 69,000 in the Nooksack-Samish, 20,000 in Stillaguamish, 27,000 in Skagit, 73,000 in Snohomish and 348,000 for South Puget Sound rivers and creeks.
