It's Official - My gear is getting in more quality fishing than I am

My 5 weight Sage stick got a workout yesterday on what is turning out to be a world class honey hole not far from OC's new digs in Summit County.

Meanwhile, my 9 weight Scott S4S set up has been enjoying a more tropical locale, traveling to Eleuthra with my colleague Mike Martini.

I have an idea. How about we all reject the notion that its cool to pull a fish out of the water and lay it on the ground or on the SNOW and take a picture of it? Are you kidding me?? The guy puts it on the snow...

Moldy Chum - stop posting garbage from these assholes and MAYBE people will stop doing it or at least do it less.

Summit County? Where? Not in Ohio?

Why don't ya just freeze every quality fish in CO while you're at it? Thanks asshole.

don't lay fish in the snow moron!!

I don't get this post.....Maybe just trying to get a rise out of everyone. I'm sure the fish liked flopping around in the snow making fish angels while you fumbled with your camera.

Love the winter fishing, but could use a little warm, sunny weather fishing.

Hey, that's me. I'm famous.

Doesn't the snow keepum fresh for eating?

Really? Come on people...Those fish may have been out of the water a few seconds at most and revived properly. If you're so concerned about the impact on fish why don't we see complaints like... "Wow, this asshole went out to intentionally drive a hook through some part of a fish, make it use valuable survival energy fighting back, only to get man-handled..." If you drive a truck, have kids, eat meat and non-organic produce, water a lawn and buy your power from the traditional grid you have a larger negative impact on resources than one angler laying a fish in the snow to take a picture. Do you clean your gear / boat after every use or when you change fisheries? Just wondering... Teeing off on someone you don't know (what do they do for conservation, fish resources, the industry, etc...) is classic lame. You want to impress us with your conservation ethic? Send in a vid of you lighting yourself on fire. THAT would be impressive...

Nice rant angler 007. But the guy is a douche for laying the fish in the snow. Look at the top pic. That fish looks frozen stiff.

I agree with not laying fish in the snow, but what are you going to say next? "Don't take pictures with that fish - That's sufficatiing them!!! """"""" ??????? You folks need to relax.

I'm guessing summit county is in the vicinty of Park City, Utah. Coldspotting.

March 11, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterscott

Not to mention the obvious fact that the bonefish is overheating in the sun!!

Hey, I'm all for properly handling fish. What I'm saying here is calling out a fellow angler as an "asshole" is uncool and lame if you weren't there. Was the fish in the net and in the water the whole time, then on the snow for a couple seconds for the shot then revived properly and released? Maybe. Maybe not. There can be constructive criticizm on this board. Taking a picture of any fish puts them in harms way. How many anglers have gone for a great shot in the drift boat and droped the fish 4 or 5 times in the process on to the deck? The even bigger reality is that angling in general puts them in harms way - especially when foul hooked or when they crack off long sections of leader or when large fish are fought for a very long time on light tackle. I don't think any fly angler hasn't regretted a moment in their time on the river when handling / losing a fish. Just a thought...

Angler 007, thanks for calling out what needed to be called out. ...and they're calling him an asshole...

March 11, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterThank You.

I haven't heard anyone on this site talk about the fact that a lot of us intentionally play with another beings' life, bring it to the edge of death, and then let it go with a "just kidding!!!" ....All for a few minutes of enjoyment on our part. It's quite sick when you think about it... But then again, that would kind of be like telling a Christian everything he or she believes in is a crutch to make them happy about their life. No one wants to hear that. (And no one is rational when something they believe in so strongly is being attacked...)
