Ehhh I'm a little skeptical here. In my experience Patagonia Waders are trash. I have a buddy who's had to send his brand new pair from the spring back twice this summer. Maybe it's just bad luck?!! What are other peoples experience?
Nice ballot stuffing!
I've had the same experience with Patagonia waders. I'm returning my third pair in a year. I like their vision as a company but they need to start making waders that last in order for me to buy them again.
Simms completely shutout? What's the inside baseball explanation for that?
I like Patagonia and what they stand for but lately they have begun to represent the elite, upper class income groups of anglers. I can't afford this stuff, and that is all there is to it...over 500 dollars for a pair of waders? 300 dollars for a shell, 400 dollars for a shell?
Could the explanation possibly be that Patagonia simply released a series of better/more interesting products than Simms at the show? Not sure why it's such an incredible shocker that Patagonia won a couple of awards and Simms didn't. How many years did Simms win a bunch of awards and nobody cried "ballot stuffing!"?
Jimbob...Simms has waders that are priced roughly the same/higher than Patagonia. $300 for a shell jacket is standard across multiple markets...look at North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Outdoor Research, Arc'Teryx (perhaps the most pricey of the bunch), etc. Patagonia isn't really breaking any new ground in pricing...the outdoor market has always fetched a premium for apparel.
Well Jimbob, someone has to pay for all those ambassadors that Patagonia has on staff.
Have been waiting for years for them to finally get "committed to the core" again. Won't happen anytime soon, it seems. Let's hope Yvon reigns them in a bit.
I like both patagoochie and simms. My experience is no matter what brand they are. They're eventually going to ware out on you. At least they have warranty's for them. Either that or buy the cheap crap waders that last a month. If you're a fatty? My dads buddy has some recommendations.
So... A dozen or less prostaff vs 50000 guides on pro staff.... Hummm, I wonder who is actually trying to buy who.
Price gouging.... At it was told to me, Simms hiked prices to make it easier on the consumer.
All for supporting a company who support the industry and the environment... And having an incredible customer service that cares about its consumers is always nice.
Sad to see Simms is butt hurt. Perhaps it's time for a change and get off the boat rowers are gods and get back to fishing is fun.
Well Here is the latest on How Patagonia treats in field reps. After the fly reps have spent tons of time on the road getting ready for the fly show and showing up in full force to support Patagonia at the fly. Patagonia has decided to fire all the reps with no warning and move there support in house. Many of these reps have stuck with Bill Klyn and Von though years of tough times and struggling products failures just to be dropped like a bad habit. No to be fair the reps will be paid their commissions as they are kicked in the balls as they leave the door. Nice work Von and Bill you must be proud!!!
