McCloud River, foot access only?

Photo: Mike Parker

According to a post by staff guide Chris Parsons on The Fly Shop's Facebook page, Mother Nature is attempting to reclaim a section of the famed McCloud River. She sent a giant boulder down a hill and placed it squarely in the middle of the road used to access the portion of the river between Ah-Di-Na and The Nature Conservancy.

Pro guide Mike Parker says there's evidence the rock will soon be blasted.

Should it be left alone, or blasted?

You know....if the road wasn't there, the rock would have kept rolling on down to the river. So anyway you look at it, the rock shouldn't be in the road. If you don't want to blast it, then give it a push over the bank and let it continue it's journey. It's big enough that it would create some nice habitat for the rainbows or browns in that section.

If you can't move or blast the rock, then some mountain bikes would be in order. Just don't use any of those skinny seats on your bike because the road can be a lot rougher than it appears there.

Anyone know if this is before or after the primitive campground?
