One Small Step for Steelhead
Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 12:04AM
Osprey Steelhead News is reporting that Ray's has agreed to take wild steelhead off their menu. Thanks to Ray's for listening and thanks to all of you who took the time to send them an e-mail.

This is awesome. It might just be one restaurant but this is a great example of what the fly fishing community can accomplish if we all work together.
Don't know about everyone else but I received two e-meails from them. One from the executive chef and the other from the catering director or something. Apparently they appreciated my e-mail which was "Dumb Rays Rat House, Take wild steelhead off your menu"
Marche, a high end restaurant in Eugene, Oregon, also often lists wild Steelhead as a weekly special. I've spoken to the well intentioned manager about it, and he assured me that their decision was based on the suffering stocks of other wild salmon in places like WA, OR, and AK. When I informed him that Alaskan stocks were certainly not suffering, he seemed confused.
