Exxon must pay $1 million for 2011 spill into Montana's Yellowstone river 

US officials have rejected Exxon Mobil’s request to reconsider a one million dollar penalty imposed against the oil company over a 63,000-gallon crude spill into Montana’s Yellowstone river.

Exxon Mobil's 2015 first quarter profits were 4.9 billion which works out to just shy of 41 million dollars a day or roughly 1.7 million dollars an hour.

Deja Vu all over again

Oil leak confirmed in the Yellowstone River near Glendive.

As of Sunday afternoon, Parker it is unknown how much oil has leaked but it could be as much as 1,200 barrels -- roughly 50,000 gallons.

Feds: Delay worsened Yellowstone River oil spill

The Exxon spill caused more property damage than all other accidents in Montana over the last decade combined

More than a dozen eastern Montana landowners filed a lawsuit Friday against Exxon Mobil Corp. claiming the company ignored warnings before a pipeline break that spilled an estimated 1,500 barrels of crude oil into the Yellowstone River.

The lawsuit from property owners along the scenic waterway claims last year's spill could have been avoided if Exxon followed the lead of other companies and shut down its pipeline during severe flooding in July 2011.

Care to guess how many of the now 1,509 barrels were recovered?

Exxon Mobil says 1,509 barrels of oil spilled into the Yellowstone River during a pipeline break in Montana last summer – an increase of more than 500 barrels over the company's earlier estimates.

Ten of the 1,509 barrels were recovered.
