This Fish Sailed From Japan to Washington on an Unmanned Tsunami Boat

On an epic two-year journey across the Pacific, a bait box in a Japanese boat turned into an aquarium when five striped beakfish made it their home.

The 6-metre fibreglass boat probably started off from Japan when the tsunami hit in March 2011. For some time, debris disloged by the giant wave has been turning up on the US west coast, usually loaded with marine plants and invertebrates such as limpets and barnacles. But this is the first time that live fish have been found after the 7600-kilometre journey.

Apparently they are also quite tasty.

Best fishing trip ever?

On the way to a fishing trip to Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas, Steve and Terri Weaver stopped off at T-Ricks convenience store and bought a lottery scratch-off ticket and won $1 million. On their return trip home, they stopped again at T-Ricks to confirm their winning ticket, bought more scratch-offs and won $50,000 more.

Chances of that happening? 1 in 3 billion.

Fishing Guide Fined For Saying He Caught a Chupacabra

Twenty-one-year-old Alaska fishing guide Matthew Terry kept his required logbook tracking his catch while guiding on the Kenai Peninsula’s Kasilof River this summer, but state troopers found themselves doubting the validity of his claims.

Terry, according to Alaska Wildlife Troopers, jokingly reported "he had taken the following species from the Kasilof River: Chupacabra, Tuna, Jack Beluga, and Blue Whales.''

The living room redfish was the icing on the cake

“I ran a line with bait from the living room out a crack in the door, through the yard and into the lake behind my house. I felt a bite while sitting on the couch watching football, set the hook and caught the fish.”

Ryan Harris, 19, told the local newspaper in Sitka, Alaska, that he sang songs like “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” to keep himself awake through the night as the fishing crate bobbed on the waves.
