"A powerful message supporting the removal of Searsville Dam"

The San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board has sent Stanford University a letter saying the agency supports "alternatives that focus on dam removal" as the university moves toward a decision on what to do with Searsville Dam and its reservoir.

Once more into the breach debate

Once a company man, Jim Waddell now finds himself challenging the agency he spent a career serving.

In so doing, he has established himself as a threat to those defending the four lower Snake River dams and a champion of breachers, who have adopted a new strategy that questions whether the massive costs associated with operating and maintaining the dams is money well spent.

The Lewiston Tribune has an Opinion Poll up on their homepage right now asking if people think it's time to breach the lower Snake Dams.

This is the key paper for the dams and they just ran a great article about Jim Waddell's work showing the positive economics of removing them.

Closing In on 50,000 Signatures

A crew from Patagonia will be heading to Washington DC next week to deliver the petition to Crack Down on Deadbeat Dams directly to the White House.

There are currently just over 1,300 more signatures needed to get to the magic 50,000 mark.

Mission accomplished! There are now over 50K signatures on the deadbeat dam removal petition.
