The Fish Art of Becca Schlaff

Becca Schlaff was introduced to the elegance and visual complexity of fish scales several years ago by a friend who is an avid angler.

From the artist's statement:

Filtering these creatures through a magnified lens brings awareness to a sublime beauty found only in nature. A search for the understanding of such beauty becomes the content of my work. I use both acrylic and oil paint mediums. I alternate between using brushwork and the palette knife to apply, scrape, dig, and explore my way to capturing an image as evocative as the splendor of nature itself.
