A River Runs Through My Acid Trip

Cano Cristales has been referred to as the "river of five colors", "the river that ran away to paradise," and "the most beautiful river in the world." It is indeed a unique biological wonder. For most of the year, the Cano Cristales is indistinguishable from any other river, with a bed of rocks covered in dull green mosses and a cool dark blue current. However for a short period each year the river blossoms in a rainbow of colors.

During Colombia's wet season, the water flows fast and deep, obscuring the bottom of the river and denying the mosses and algae that call the river home the sun that they need. And during the dry season there is not enough water to support the dazzling array of life in the river.

But during a brief span between the wet and dry seasons, when the water level is just right, the many varieties of algae and moss bloom in a dazzling display of colors. Blotches of amarillo, blue, green, black, and red--and a thousand shades in between--coat the river.

You Can't Please Everyone - A River Runs Through It

Cynical-C Blog has a regular feature where they post one star Amazon reviews of classic movies, music and literature. So we looked up everyone's favorite fly fishing movie and sure enough there are a number of people who did not appreciate the film... 5 to be exact.  What follows are 3 of the 5 cut and pasted word for word for your reading pleasure.

- I cant believe that Ive only found one bad review of this film on the whole internet. Have you all gone mad? Apart from the beauty of Brad Pitt and the Montana scenery, this is one of the most disappointing badly made and boring films I have seen since "Independance Day"! Deeply irritating, very bad continuity, (eg scenes where his clothes are all wet and the next minute totally dry) AWFUL mawkish script - particularly the narration - and Im sorry to all of those out there who like this self-indulgent and grossly over-rated film, but Im pretty pissed off Ive just wasted 2 hours of my day. I would have given it no stars if the form field had let me.

- If there was somthing for NO stars, I would rate it that. This is the worst movie I have ever seen. It's beyond boring, there is no climax at all. The movie just drags on about some guy and his family. Hell, if this is such a great hit, maybe my dog can star in the sequel.

- the movie is fine but before i purchased it i read the description and it says that the movie has subtitles in spanish and the true is that IT DOESN'T!

Cause the Cuyahoga River Goes smokin' through my dreams

Cleveland's Cuyahoga River which once burned, spurring an environmental movement, is now showing more diverse fish life. LINK (Via Fox News 8)

The Cuyahoga gained its infamous reputation on June 22, 1969 when oil and debris on the surface of the Cuyahoga River erupted into flames and burned for approximately 25 minutes.

This was not the first time that the river had caught on fire. Fires occurred on the Cuyahoga River in 1868, 1883, 1887, 1912, 1922, 1936, 1941, 1948, and in 1952. The 1952 fire caused over 1.5 million dollars in damage. LINK

The fire of 69 inspired Randy Newman's song Burn On.

There's a red moon rising
On the Cuyahoga River
Rolling into Cleveland to the lake

There's a red moon rising
ON the Cuyahoga River
Rolling into Cleveland to the lake

There's an oil barge winding
Down the Cuyahoga River
Rolling into Cleveland to the lake

There's an oil barge winding
Down the Cuyahoga River
Rolling into Cleveland to the lake

Cleveland city of light city of magic
Cleveland city of light you're calling me
Cleveland, even now I can remember
'Cause the Cuyahoga River
Goes smokin' through my dreams

Burn on, big river, burn on
Burn on, big river, burn on
Now the Lord can make you tumble
And the Lord can make you turn
And the Lord can make you overflow
But the Lord can't make you burn

Burn on, big river, burn on
Burn on, big river, burn on
