This Thursday, author, angler and Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador Dylan Tomine will be at the Patagonia Portland store to talk about fish hatcheries and their impact on wild fish, fishing, public finances and larger environmental issues. There will be beer, food and other festivities to lighten the mood.

Progress made in 2009 to protect and rebuild weak stocks of Skeena salmon, based on recommendations from the Independent Science Review Panel and harvest rules consistent with the Wild Salmon Policy, is now on the chopping block. DFO proposes to dramatically increase the mixed stock marine fishery despite scientific evidence that this increase will have serious impacts to already suffering wild sockeye in the Skeena.

It's not just the Skeena wild sockeye that would be impacted.
A fisheries watchdog group says the federal government's proposal to increase commercial salmon fishing this year puts pressure on endangered salmon stocks in British Columbia in the name of profits.

What is Get Trashed you say?
It is a RIVER CLEANUP with a twist. Each team will be given bags to collect trash throughout their 2 days of searching for the fish of 1000 casts! Points will be allotted for fish caught, "Unique" trash collected, number of beer cans "found", etc etc etc...The most BITCHIN gear from the Farms Supports will be going out to the team with the most points at the end of the 2 days.
