I participated in a dive fish count in July @ Forks of Salmon for Spring Chinook and Summer Steel head...numbers beyond alarmingly low, with fish only being found in only a few refugias where cold water creeks met the Salmon River.
Two weeks ago I spent time on the upper Eel River in Humboldt where indeed I found it to not be flowing in several sections. Now, two weeks later, we see that the Eel River, whose system holds the largest run of steel head in all of California, has ceased to flow at its very lowest reaches near its outlet to the Pacific.
Very bad news for fish, people, and every other living thing that is a component of this watershed ecosystem.

Pray and dance for rain and snow.
