Stand
An adventure documentary showcasing the west coast of British Columbia and what's at stake with the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline.
STAND, presented by Quiksilver Waterman, will take viewers on a journey through the waters of B.C.'s west coast. Through the stories of an aboriginal high school class building their own stand-up paddleboards as a form of protest, the efforts of expedition stand-up paddler Norm Hann, and the powerful surfing of iconic west coast native Raph Bruhwiler, the diversity of people, landscape and wildlife that would be affected by an oil spill will be articulated. STAND will take you to the core of the issue and unfurl the soul of B.C.'s west coast one paddle stroke at a time.

I would definitely consider donating to this cause except for the fact the folks in the Skeena region don't want our good 'ole American dollars as exemplified by their new Angling Management Plan, prohibiting foreigners (see Americans) from fishing more than 4 days a week on many of the streams and rivers in the area. My conspiracy theory states that this was exactly the point of the new AMP; to drive out and disenfranchise many who come to the area, that spend a crap-ton of money, and who also throw considerable money and other efforts toward conservation groups working to preserve the best steelhead fishing on the planet (among other things). On a positive note, however, it should make petrol for my sled slightly more affordable in BC so I can go exploit (see bait fish the fuck out of) the once precious, secret, untouched areas that I once never thought about before the new regs came out. In short, "Suck it, BC!" Reap what you sow, hippies!
