The best feeling on Earth is watching all the cocky fuckers from out west fish the north shore of Lake Superior and not catch anything, and then they just say there's no fish there. Fucking morons.
The Pac. NW can keep their piss-poor logging practices, hydro-dams on all their rivers, intensive hatchery programs, and keep enjoying the view from the high horse. It won't be much longer and they will kill off the last of their wild steelhead that haven't already lost their genetics through interbreeding with all the hatchery fish. They will be worried about proving they're better fisherman than everybody else and their fishery will disappear before their eyes. I can't believe I donate to the organizations that are trying to help protect their fish when all they do is try to prove they are better than me just because I live in the midwest.
The Canadian waters of Lake Superior have some of the most genetically pure steelhead in the world, next to BC and Russia. They were introduced over 100 years ago and have never been supplemented with another hatchery stock since, unlike many PAC NW rivers. It would be funny some day if they started using Lake Superior brood stock to supplement the west coast fisheries....
I think the real fight is between lovers of fishing and bad environmental practices, harvest of wild steelhead, poor commercial fishing practices, etc.... Not between Midwest/Pacifc NW
I chased midwest "lake run rainbows" for 10yrs back in the day, and this silly ass cartoon is right fucking on. I turned to warm water fishingyears ago to stay away from all the D Bags that steelhead fishing in the sewer ditches of the midwest attracts.
IN the PNW..they are still killing the resource. In the midwest we are building it. Call our fish what you want...at least we don't have our collective heads up our asses when it comes to mgmt.
The Midwest posters remind me of the guy who took the biggest dog in the bar home after drinking and then tried to tell everyone that she was a beauty queen the next morning. The tard that uses a two hander to throw a brick to snag fish is from the same DNA pool as the guy on the West Coast that can actually cast and swing a fly. Only one of the groups goes to family reunions to get dates.

Have you ever heard of Smoltification?? Fish going from fresh water to fresh water don't undergo this process. However, this is what a TRUE steelhead does other wise it is just a damn bow no matter how you slice it.

Probably not the best argument to make when we as fishermen have bigger problems on our hands, and don't really need any cause for division. I will happily fish my great lakes tribs that are full of STEELHEAD and less than a 2 hour drive from Chicago. I know your pacific northwest rivers are awesome, EVERYONE knows they're awesome. Now shut up about it, and go fish them.

No one really takes this serious. If I had to live in the Midwest I would fish for them. If I lived in BC I would laugh at everyone else.
