We're going to need a bigger boat

A BIG mako shark grabs a large striped marlin just as it was about to be released.

Awesome pic.... My hunch tells me that the same kind of thing happens in catch and realease in freshwater as well and far more often than we care to consider.

It amazes me to hear people say that when you hold a fish up for the photo shot you should hold your breath and when you cant take any more thats a good gauge of when to return the fish to the water.....

But for me thats a load of crap. Considering that the fish has been played and taken you to the backing at least once then the correct metaphor should be..... sprint a hundred metres and then hold your breath... and that is probably about the right time frame to go for the hero pic.

Limit your catch... dont catch your limit.

Great pic, kind of sad. That kind of thing happens all the time around here with sea lions and salmon. Maybe not quite the same as a mako shark and a marlin, but....
