The overall state record was actually 54" for a Muskie so it was .5 inch short of the state record. The record for tiger muskie was 51" - somebody was confused unless you're talking different fly flishing records. Still an amazing fish - I hope it was on a fly, that would be unreal.

i am a fisheries biologist from wisconsin. i find the 53.5" size listed to be extremely offensive. this is no anywhere near 50". it is a beautiful fish, why not list the accurate size? this may be the most egregious exaggeration of a fish size i've ever seen.
