Patagonia Launches New Fly Fishing Collection for 2011

Patagonia’s largest collection of new fly fishing products will premier this week at the Summer 2010 Outdoor Retailer Trade Show.

VENTURA, Calif. (July, 2010) — Patagonia Inc., the outdoor apparel company, announces the launch of a brand new 60-piece Fly Fishing collection for the Spring 2011 season. Fly Fishing has been a part of the company’s heritage since its inception in 1973, and the Spring 2011 season brings with it the most exciting Fly Fishing product offering to date. In line with Patagonia’s environmental ethos, 66% of the line is now recyclable through Patagonia’s Common Threads Recycling Program.

The new collection is a result of years of development dedicated towards producing technical apparel to help anglers fish more comfortably in whatever conditions they may encounter. 30 new styles, plus a host of remarkable new technical features and fresh colors, define the collection.

“This versatile collection of product brings together the finest in technical design and the latest technologies,” notes Bart Bonime, Director of Fishing, “The result are products that allow fishermen to be more comfortable in the field whether pursuing backcountry trout in the spring, steelhead in the fall or bonefish in the heat of summer.”

Leading the charge is the new Rio Gallegos Wader, offering one-of-a-kind features such as removable neoprene knee pads, a unique, fully submersible welded TPU pocket and strategically placed exterior leg tape for added durability at critical wear points. Every wader style is new or redesigned, with an updated EZ Lock Slider suspension system that allows the wader to be worn as a pant.  For warm-weather endeavors, the new Tropic Comfort Crew and Sun Hoody provide high-performance wicking and 20 UPF sun protection. Utilizing a new polyester jersey fabric, these products have a soft cotton-like feel, yet provide the fast-drying, quick-wicking benefits of a synthetic. Wading boots offer up an exclusive new outsole design and a proprietary new sticky rubber compound for safer wading. The Rock Grip Wading Boot is our newest bombproof wading boot, designed for maximum durability, protection and traction.

Other new styles include the Gunnison Gorge Wading Pant, a lightweight wading pant built for hot-weather conditions, and the Stealth Hip and Chest Packs. Giving consumers an alternative option to vests, these versatile products provide function and performance for the minimalist angler, utilizing an essentially waterproof coated ballistic nylon fabrication.  In total, the revamped Fly Fishing collection will offer 30 new styles to the consumer, and will be available in early 2011.
