August Slab of the Month: Ponoi River Atlantic

This is an Atlantic salmon Barrett Mattison caught on the Ponoi river in Russia a couple weeks ago. 4 jumps, 3 times into the backing – it totally kicked his ass. Not bad for a fish that’s been in the river for 10 months.

Holy Whitefish! That is one impressive toad. Don't bother posting any other SOTM pics this month. Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner! Looks like that was an epic battle! Nice fish, very nice fish.

Thanks guys! I would love to say that I got it on a skated dry, but it was actually on a yellow rubber leg girdle bug. A bit insulting for the "fish of kings", but tradition is over rated.
