An Asian carp was found for the first time beyond electric barriers meant to keep the voracious invasive species out of the Great Lakes, state and federal officials said Wednesday, prompting renewed calls for swift action to block their advance.
Commercial fishermen landed the 3-foot-long, 20-pound bighead carp in Lake Calumet on Chicago’s South Side, about six miles from Lake Michigan, according to the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee.

This is a fish that more archery guy's should go after. Kill as much as you want guy's.
This is a very sad discovery. The great lakes have taken such a beating from invasive species over the years and somehow the fishery has survived. I don't know if they can make it through this one.
Saw this coming a year ago. Thanks for not closing the locks...Just booked my salmon for fall. Next year it'll be a carp trip...
well, looks like those leisurely boat rides might get dangerous in the great lakes soon...
