Patagonia Guidewater Waders

"Waders are the single most important piece of gear a fisherman can wear. It's simple, you can be in the middle of paradise, but if your waders fail, it's going to ruin your day."

The number and size of fish you catch is directly proportional to the amount of money you spend at an orvis endorsed fly shop.

Not true. The most important piece of fishing equipment a fisherman can have is the roll of emergency toilet paper stashed deep within the vest. If you think I'm wrong, try being caught without it.

It's too bad Patagonia waders suck and leak like your momma.

I'm on my third pair in a year, so they do not last "longer." But they are great waders, and Yvonne always gets my vote over the Simms monkeys.

Hodgemann waders and boots are still available for a grand total of about $140, for BOTH!!!

Combine that with the mid-level rod, reel, line, leader, etc. on clearance at the local sporting goods store, and start tying your own bugs.

That way, you can catch just as many fish, be just as comfortable, AND have money left for Whiskey/Beer/Sandwiches/Medicinal Green/Gas/Etc.

I'm sorry "big Mike", But the fellows and I down at the private water club in Utah all agree most emphatically that you've not spent enough money to successfully catch fish. I mean how in the world do you expect to angle successfully if you don't have a "boat orsman" to float you down a river, tie your flies on a tippet, net, release and clean your catch? I would never, god forbid, create my own flies, walk to a fishing spot or have to actually touch a fish.

You should try opening an orvis catalog and just say YES.

I live in mostly Gucci clothing and love ol' Chouinard, but their waders (and wading boots) are the one product of their's that I don't believe in. I've never had a more poorly fitting, poorly designed wader fail on me faster than the pair of watermasters I owned last year for about a month. And their boots are simply shit. But I do love their underwear...

They should stick to climbing/outdoor gear (jackets/pants) and stay out of the fishing gear. I guess they have been trying to expand for a while now, but their fishing gear sucks! Their other stuff is great. My GF had a jacket for a good 10 years and the zipper failed and they gave her a 120$ credit and got a noter nice jacket. Stick with Simms for the waders and boots but the jackets and undies are hard to pass up.

i've never worn em but wear simms everyday in AK for 3years without a leak. the guides around BZN do say Patagucci does have a helluva warranty though. which is worth its weight in gold

400+ days on simms waders, patagonia waders leaked first time out. Replaced by patagonia, second pair started leaking within a week. Back with Simms, cant be happier

Yep,

Pataguci Waders are Patacrappy. Really bummed because it cost me an arm and a leg to find this out. 14 day of fishing and they leak as bad as my 4 year old G3's. Back to Simms I go.

I don't think there is really a good pair of waders that won't leak. I have tried many (sims, cloudveil, patagucci, orvis)and do not get more than half a season at best out of a pair many have only lasted a few weeks. I have come to believe if you spend close to 200 days on the water your going to go through waders no matter what. The only solution to this is wet wading in the summer and save your waders for colder times. So my advice is go with the waders that fit the best and don't break the bank because your going to have to buy a new pair usually sooner rather than later.

anyone ever try redington waders?

May 5, 2010 | Unregistered Commentersteven

Redington waders are good. I Fish on average 2x a week in them and have owned a pair for almost a year...no problems at all, and the price was right.

Let's beat this dead horse a little longer.
