Lippin' fish with a Boga-type tools tears muscles and tendons in fish's mouth. At the very least that's just bad news, at worst it equals death. I know this is just a study on bonefish -- http://troutunderground.com/2008/08/12/study-shows-lip-gripping-devices-boca-grips-damaged-80-of-bonefish/ -- but there is also this study on snook -- http://www.saltwatersportsman.com/article/News/Handle-With-Care -- which shows that even lipping them by hand can be a death sentence.
