It's funny that we have the same problems in northern BC. There is no C&R culture, except on the salmon and steelhead rivers, mostly out west in the skeena. Everything else is pretty well wide open and really gets hammered.

Nice, just what our sport needs: more arrogant mockery of fellow fishers who learned to do it differently than we did. It's one thing to try and educate anglers about maintaining a sustainable fishery (which does not mean catch-and-release only, BTW), but it's another to make a film mocking anglers who use methods different than your chosen one. Just the sort of rubbish that helps no one.

Ironic these fellas are pushing this "Soul Fish" thing; any fisher who does it for the benefits it provides to the head or soul has no need to make a video to shout to the world!!! Oh and if you think that pellet fed trout-tard is the largest bow in NC I would encourage you to get out and do a little more fishing. Outski

For those that watch this video, please don't take that as to what NC has to offer. Stone Mtn. State Park is ranked up there with South Mountain State park as the yuppiest fishing hole in the state.

We have thousands of miles of water here in the state, lots of wild fish etc. DH is a lame representation to use when pushing for enforcement of C and R waters since it opens to a creel limit every June.

That being said, tight video work, great quality on picture and sound.

Don't take this wrong guys... I am just pointing this out to the dip shits that bash NC and who watch this video and think this is all we have.

Man... folks are pissed! I liked the vid. People get their knickers in a real bind when it comes to C&R vs. non-C&R. Maybe it's a battle we shouldn't be having... kind of a divide and conquer approach we do to ourselves. However, on the C&R waters I fish I don't have to pick up Natural Light cans or worm containers... just say'n.

Video was ok to me, but I am DAMN glad I live in Idaho!!!!!

ditto. it was decent. cool to see so many new films from all over the map. everyone's got a different angle.

The smallmouth fishing and salt fishing (both inshore and offshor) in NC is amazing. I'd love to see more vids profiling that (e.g. http://www.redfishcantjump.com/), rather than pointing out the mediocrity of the DH fishing. And, yes, the wild trout water has a lot to offer in NC.

Follow the hatchery truck, i.e. Delayed Harvest, and that's what you get. North Carolina has some of the most remote wild trout streams in the eastern US. Go there for privacy and no baiters.

If you think there is a "right way" or a "wrong way" to catch pellet fed stocker trout, you might be an elitist.
If you really think "bobber fishing" is that different from nymphing under an indicator, you might be an elitist.
If you think that 18 inch bow is the biggest trout in NC, you might be an idiot.
If you fish in a state park and complain about other people using different methods that you, you might be a whiner.
If you think sustainable harvest means strict catch and release, you might be ignorant.
Just another elitist stirring up trouble.
If you are truly passionate about wild trout and sustainable harvest, try fishing somewhere other than a state park.
If you really care about healthy trout populations, put down the camera and do some volunteer work restoring a spring creek somewhere.

Nice video work though.

Cool video work. Everyone has their own point of view. The thing I don't like around here is the people that leave their trash all over the river. I mean, comon, pick it up. Everyone has their own method, and as long as they are following the rules, and common sense, then there's no problem.

Big Mike, thanks for the laughs. That shit cracked me up.

Nice video production and I think the idea is well-intentioned, but complaining about bait fisherman at a state park in the south is like complaining about all the piss in the kiddie pool.

Was this the only film in the festival?

most of you dont get it on the eastcoast most rivers are stocked and to find wild fish you need to hunt ,and i mean hunt ,the west is the best and im from the eastcoast .The stocker fish out there are for the bait boys and the all the catch and release areas have become seasonal conservation areas so the bait boys get to come in for a couple of months throw trash around and keep as many fish as they can it is a joke !!!!!!!! fishery management is a joke over there as well it is a sad state of affairs . Rivers that held beautiful fish are few and far between and it is all so the states can sell licenses . this country is a mess so if standing next to a stream makes it better so be it !

WTF was that..... Yups from Charlotte making a lame DH video... If you fucks think you going to sell a DVD from that think again... Pick something else to film for pete sake, making a movie in one of the lamest fishing areas known as Stone Mtn SP is about as easy as it gets..

December 22, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSlab

Now now, children. Catch and release is entirely up to the angler no matter what form of method used, unless specified by regulations on a certain body of water. My girlfriend and I practice the "C&R" method nearly all the time EXCEPT on fin clipped steelhead and the occasional trout if were out camping and it is going to be cooked within an hour or two. This is all done legally as per regulations of the particular body of water.

There are such fish as steelhead that are stocked to be harvested for sport and if they breed with some of the native fish may produce weaker offspring. They are meant to be bonked, but only two per day in the Deschutes and may rivers in Oregon.

I personally hate to see a stringer of fish and TROUT going into the freezer. But to each is own as long as it is done legally. None of you sound like biologists and certain regulations are put on certain bodies of water for a reason. Sooooo SUCKIT.

December 22, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSuckit

Yeah you know I practice C&R about 90% of the time and like suckit said stockers are there for harvest. Here in my shitty state theres a little spring creek that gets stocked with the hopes of developing the fishery and its asked that anglers practice C&R but you can't make them, the limits are fair at two fish over 12". Its when you see the guy with a spackle bucket filled with fish that something be said. Plus nine out of ten times I see the bait guys catching nothing, just cause its natural doesnt mean a trout is allways gonna eat a worm, theres countless times when I've had bait guys ask what fly I'm using cause they watch and see me pull a few out of the run they just tried. Next time you see them they got a fly rod and they get the whole C&R thing. Who wants to eat pellet fed fish anyhow? I just think its funny how the bait guys show up with like 20lb test straight to the sive 2 hook a massive bobber and a huge ass night crawler and wonder why there getting out fished by a guy with hair tied to a tiny hook. Some redneck dude want to keep a couple fish fine maybe he struck out during hunting season and needs the meat who cares! When I'm fishing a SP I cant bitch and complain get over it! Every river isn't made for fly fisherman. Its assholes like these that start up the fucking clubs that go along leasing up river side property and posting it for "members only".
