Fiction Competition closing 1st June 2009

Quality Waters Update

Tom Ethier, Director of Fish and Wildlife, Ministry of Environment has posted an update on the Skeena Quality Waters Strategy on Way Uptream.

It has now been five months since we asked the public to provide comments on the draft Angling Management Plans as part of the Skeena Quality Waters Strategy. As each Working Group prepares to meet again this spring to revise the draft plans, I would like to provide an update on the process.

Fresh Art

Artist and friend Mike Savlen recently posted some great new work on his Fresh Art blog and Facebook page. Mike who had moved away from the technical detail illustration genre due to it's creative limitations says he is enjoying the break from the big brushes. Doesn't hurt that he's chasing his subjects and surf breaks everyday from his new studio in Costa Rica.

Parlez Vous Brownlining?

They’ve got this thing where they fish in city centre canals, park ponds and all over the city. It’s illegal and in the film they compare it – with brilliant French pretension – to graffiti artists, but still. You get the picture. It’s in French but I know you fish-o-philes get excited by anyone with a rod.

Forbes jumps on the urban fishing bandwagon.

And like New York, most of these urban spots, despite their proximity to millions of people, remain underfished. You are more likely to get elbowed off some famous trout stream in the Rockies than you are within sight of skyscrapers. Just be prepared for the incoming airplanes.
