Hoot owl restrictions lifted on some western Montana rivers

Longer nights and cooler water temperatures mean an end to fishing restrictions on three of western Montana’s most favored trout rivers.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks lifted “hoot owl” restrictions on the Bitterroot, the entire main stem of the Blackfoot and the Clark Fork, downstream of the Rock Creek confluence.

More "hoot owl" fishing restrictions come to Western Montana

State wildlife officials have instituted "hoot owl" fishing restrictions on a section of the Blackfoot River and some of its tributaries.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has announced that no fishing will be allowed between 2 p.m. and midnight on Morrell, Gold, Belmont, Cottonwood, Copper, and Monture creeks as well as the North Fork of the Blackfoot River below North Fork Falls and Landers Fork.
