Swing the Fly Winter Steelhead & Spring Atlantic Salmon Fly Contest

Swing the Fly is pleased to announce their First Annual Winter Steelhead and Spring Atlantic Salmon Fly Contest, sponsored by Heritage Angling Products.

Tie up your favorite Original or Variation of a classic winter steelhead fly or spring Atlantic salmon fly. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, tying ability, style and perceived fish catching effectiveness. Each entry must be submitted with an accompanying description of the fly, its origins and the name of the pattern. Be sure to give credit to the pattern originator if you are tying a variation of a classic pattern.

Swing the Fly Photo Contest

Submit your favorite spey/swung fly photo for a chance to make the cover of Swing the Fly.

A panel of judges will select the top image to grace the cover of the October 1 issue of Swing the Fly and the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate from the Red Shed. The Runner-Up will receive a $75 gift certificate and third place $50 and both will be published in a later issue of the magazine.

The Voice of Spey

Swing the Fly magazine was conceived in 2012 to support the exponentially growing number of spey casting and swung fly enthusiasts worldwide. It is our vision to provide an outlet for the sharing of photos and the written word of those individuals, and in doing so, promote and preserve the tradition of fishing for steelhead and salmon using a swung fly. It is our goal to remember those great anglers who paved the road before us while exploring and preserving our fish and waters for future generations.
