North Andros guide, lodge owner, conservationist extraordinaire and master caster Prescott Smith on a busman's holiday to SoFla picked off this permit just outside of Biscayne Bay. Just goes to show that pedigree (Crazie Charlie's son) and talent can move from one side of the Florida straits to the other and from the back of the boat to the front. A recent dispatch from Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador Mikey Weir.
Just got back from a little mission into a remote canyon here in Nor Cal. I was mostly there to film some climbing but i managed some fishing time too. The river was HUGE but i managed to pull some really nice trout. These two were the highlights. I'm guessing that female was over 12 lbs and the male was over 15. He gave me a nasty bite. I could barley hold him out of the water. I think he's one of the biggest i've ever caught. After that i just put my rod down. That was the trout i've been looking for for years.
