Team Jackson Kayak member James McBeath, an experienced whitewater kayaker and avid fisherman, won the Inaugural Musky Fly Fishing World Championship in Tennessee; reeling in the winning 38-inch fish in a Coosa kayak.

Expert anglers from around the world are in Tasmania for the Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships. Among the teams fishing for trout will be a group from the small Pacific island nation of Kiribati.
There are no freshwater rivers or lakes on Kiribati.
They're a team that knows how to make an entrance. Dressed in waders and walking past gum trees down towards a freshwater lake in the Tasmanian highlands the fly fishing team from Kiribati is about to do something that they could never do at home.They're going trout fishing. Nareau Bataeru is the team captain and he's from a small coral atoll called Christmas Island where there's no fresh water rivers or lakes.
The team is hoping to use the fly fishing championships to make the point that their low lying island home may be on borrowed time due to global climate change.

Bend has been tapped to host the 2012 U.S. Fly Fishing National Championships October 18-2
The event is expected to draw approximately 100 anglers to the area, as well as 100 family members, fans, and event organizers. Participants will fish a combination of lakes and rivers on a catch-and-release basis.

The 2012 World Fly Fishing Championshops will be taking place in Slovenia in June.

Did you know that the 2011 World Fly Fishing Championships took place last week in Italy? No? Well neither did the rest of the civilized world.
The US Youth Team took home the gold and the US Adult Mens Team came in 5th just a few points shy of a medal position.

Theo Anest took home the gold, 1K in cash and a bunch of swag at last weekend's 2 Fly X-stream competition at the Teva Mountain Games. Molly Eyler scored 500 bones for the BIG fish of the tournament at 22 inches.
