The River Art of Ahmad Nadalian

According to a tradition in the north of Iran images of fish or snakes can be a sign of treasure. By carving simple fish shapes and other forms onto small stones and river rocks, artist Ahmad Nadalian seeks to repopulate the spirit of neglected streams and rivers in his native Iran and around the world and share these treasures with future generations.

My step dad, who has taken up wood carving after retiring from the clock making business, recently crafted this fish inspired whirligig.

David A. Footer - Wilderness and Wildlife Artist

David Footer is a Lewiston Maine artist whose work spans multiple disciplines. A licensed taxidermist at the age of 15, Footer was inspired by the work of Herb Welch who was known as the premier taxidermist of his era.

As a guide on the on the famous Broadback River in Northern Quebec for an amazing 26 seasons, Footer spent thousands of hours watching the movements of fish. That experience is reflected through his paintings, wood fish carvings, prints, fish mountings, and other works of art.

He is also the creator of the Footer Special, a tandem trolling streamer that has caught some of the largest brookies in Quebec.

Joshua Knuth is a multi faceted artist who has been operating a full time taxidermy studio since 2005. As you can see by the rainbow trout replica and brookie skin mount he has some mad skills.

Sam MacDonald - Marine Wildlife Sculpture

Working with age old metal work techniques, Sam MacDonald strives to produce contemporary and unique pieces of art. His artistic endeavour is to observe and capture fleeting moments of nature, from the calm and tension before a trout strikes to the beauty of a tarpon breaking the surface.

Saltwater Designs

As well as paintings and flat metal silhouettes, Kyle Braniff is known for his three dimensional metal mounts. His first sculptures were made from rusted car hoods, but he was soon drawn to 20 gauge sheet metal.
