In 1982, Terry Woodall established Pacific Carvings, specializing in sea life and woodland wildlife. After thousands of carvings, the name Terry Woodall has become synonymous with finely detailed wildlife carved from myrtlewood.
Jonathan Marquardt recently contributed this series of steelhead prints to a museum exhibit and fundraiser hosted by the Burke Museum and the Wild Steelhead Coalition. Well now those limited edition prints are available for purchase.
Jonathan used large 18x18 linoleum sheets to carve and print these images. The images are first drawn on block in reverse and then carved in using two gouge blades. Ink is then rolled over the finished block and hand-press each piece of paper onto the block, creating the final image. Hand-printed on acid-free artist's paper with archival oil-based ink, each of the image is 18x18" with an overall size of 24"x24".
Each of the three images is part of a limited series of five total prints which are signed and numbered by Jonathan and are available by hitting the links below each image. You can also view and order through his Bad Axed Design site, while your there take some time to check out some of his other latest works.
