Putting up the Fish -- A Salmon Tradition at Risk

 From The Story Group

Nondalton, Alaska is a traditional Athabascan village whose residents have lived off the land for 10,000 years. June Tracey tells us about fish camp, the places each year Nondalton residents go to "put up their fish." The annual salmon run is central to the native culture and diet, but a looming threat could bring an end to an ancient fishing tradition. Nondalton is only 15 miles from the proposed Pebble Mine site and if the mine goes in, it could mean disaster for Nondalton's and Bristol Bay's salmon run.

  2. uproar: a noisy argument or disturbance
  3. advertise something loudly: to advertise or publicize something loudly and insistently

Ron Arnold, Vice President of the Center for the Defense of Free Enterprise is sad that there is some very well organized opposition to the Pebble Mine.

The bummer is Ron Arnold's drivel gets picked up by other right wing sites which helps rally the wingnut brigade.

Pebble Partnership, bringing Poison to Alaska!

Actually they're helping bring former Poison front man Bret Michaels to the Alaska State Fair.

Here's the proof.

60 bucks for a reserved seat? A shame Kid Rock wasn't available.

And what's up with that hip edgy rainbow border around the Pebble Partnership logo? Could it be Pebble is covertly reaching to the Alaskan LGBT community in addition to the dedicated fans of a washed up former lead singer of a big hair band? Nahhhh, not likely.

Either way, boys and girls, it's mother f#&king Bret Michaels.

Anti-Pebble Mine agenda may have originated within the EPA !

The Daily Caller continues to pump out the pro Pebble bullshit.

He has "serious questions about how a mine can co-exist with fish in Bristol Bay."

That is a quote from evolution skeptic Congressman Paul Broun who recently chaired a congressional hearing on the Pebble Mine. Must be just a bit troubling for Pebble's PR firm when someone who believes evolution is a lie from hell is questioning the ability of Pebble to coexist with fish.

Despite the potential impacts on the fishery, Broun says the EPA shouldn't stop the mine before developers are ready to submit their plan.
