A film about life, death, science and streams

RiverWebs is a 1-hour documentary film that chronicles the inspiring life and work of the pioneering Japanese ecologist, Dr. Shigeru Nakano. From his boyhood exploration of Japan’s mountain streams to his leadership of an international effort to understand river ecosystems, Nakano’s life demonstrates the unquenchable curiosity and bold creativity that drive scientific discovery. Yet it is Nakano’s tragic death that shows us the profound personal impact of his life, and reveals what is perhaps the greatest scientific strength... community.

Langs Sporting Tackle Auctions

Langs has two online only auctions happening tomorrow and Sunday.

One of the items up for bid is perhaps the most desirable big game reel ever offered at auction.

What sets this particular reel apart from all others? This very example was used personally by Zane Grey to land his world record 1040 pound marlin on May 6th, 1931. Certainly one of the most photographed of all Grey's world record catches, and of huge personal importance to Zane, this reel is prominently featured in photos taken of this historic event on the island of Vairao, Tahiti. Accompanying this reel is the original letter of authenticity dated January 3, 1983, signed by Loren Grey on Zane Grey Inc. stationary stating his knowledge of this reel's use, "in the capture of Dad's first thousand pound marlin swordfish in Tahiti", to the purchaser. It has been rumored that Loren Grey was in financial distress, necessitating the sale of this reel, which was never expected to leave the family.

The estimated selling price is somwhere between $15,000 and $25,000.

You can view the rest of the auction items and register to bid here.  LINK
