No Preventative Trinity River Water Releases This Year

The federal Bureau of Reclamation has informed stakeholders along the Klamath and Trinity rivers that this year it will abandon its practice of releasing extra Trinity River water in August to prevent a repeat of the 2002 Klamath Fish Kill.

this is so political it is sickening!! 2000 cfs a day to whiskeytown lake which through clearcreak dumps into the sacramento river and on tho the aquaducts......the trinity is only getting 400cfs or less...........whiskey town lake is always full while the actual watershed the water is from suffers.
a fish kill is already happening on non tailwaters in the klamath basin.....one river has upwards of 400-500 spring salmon dead on the bank and mouths of feeder creeks are stacked with salmon and steelhead struggling to stay cool. as californias new C.D.F.W and the BLM take more water and rights away it will only be a matter of 25 yrs or so that all anadromous fish in the klamath may be extinct........and the new klamath dam deals are screwd now that the feds are bullying their way in!! sucks man,,, REALLY sucks
