Federal judges deny request for emergency injunction against steelhead planting in Elwha River

This really sucks.
A panel of federal appellate judges has rejected a wild-fish advocacy group’s request to stop the planting of hatchery-born steelhead in the Elwha River.
The ruling clears the way for Lower Elwha Klallam tribal hatchery managers to proceed with their planned release of as many as 175,000 steelhead from the $16.5 million hatchery built to help restore Elwha River fish runs.

FOLLOW THE MON-NAAAY to paraphrase a line.....Feds got duped into supporting bogus "fishing rights",look even more stupid when all the infrastructure can't handle dirty water, and SURPRIZE! Looks like leaving the fish alone in the first place would have worked all along......
Wow, when will people ever learn. This was the best opportunity to show the power of natural runs to rebound on their own through natural processes. Instead, they want to prevent natural runs from happening and supplement the success of wild steelhead with some unfit hatchery steelhead that will cost us more money to plant in that river than allowing wild stocks to take hold. Come on America! I thought we were over this shit! Stocking is an outdated practice more than 150 years old that has destroyed many a native fish, and many a watershed. It's a bummer man...
